Struggling homeowners may consider a deed in lieu of foreclosure

Facing a foreclosure can be a distressing experience for any Minnesota homeowner. After all, those facing foreclosure are often dealing with other financial difficulties in their lives. With foreclosure looming, not only may they lose their home, but their credit score may also take a serious hit. This could make it more difficult for them to find housing once the foreclosure process is completed, which will only exacerbate their financial problems.

Don't navigate hiccups in real estate transactions alone

Summer is a popular time to buy and sell a home in Minnesota. Those looking to buy or sell a home may think that they can handle the matter on their own. However, complications could arise during the process that they might never have expected and are totally unable to deal with. These oversights can be costly.

Potential homeowners in Minnesota face financial challenges

Many young adults in Minnesota may have once anticipated becoming homeowners. After all, owning a home is a sign that a person is able to manage their finances responsibly. Moreover, people just like the idea of having a house and land that is theirs and theirs alone to do with as they wish. However, for some young adults, homeownership is becoming a distant dream.

Minnesota homeowners facing foreclosure may have options

No one in Minnesota can predict the future. For example, when a person buys a home, they do so believing they will be able to make their mortgage payments on time and in full until the house is paid off. However, sometimes unexpected financial events take place that make paying one's mortgage difficult, if not impossible. For example, a person could rack up significant expenses in another area of their life, such as medical expenses. Or, a person could lose their job leaving them without a source of income.

Do your homework before purchasing a short-sale home

A short sale takes place when a person, with their lender's consent, puts their home up for sale for less than what they still owe on their mortgage. Home buyers in Saint Paul interested in a short-sale home may feel like they have found the house of their dreams at a real bargain. However, there are certain issues they should look out for before purchasing a short-sale home to ensure the deal isn't too good to be true.

Home prices in the Twin Cities on the upswing, but supply is low

Buying a home in the Twin Cities has become increasingly difficult. Some residents find that affordable homes are often in deplorable conditions, so those that have been well kept go quickly. In fact, the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors has stated that the city is seeing a record low in the number of homes being sold. The median price for the sale of a house in June was $250,000.
